I believe in the value of the holistic and inclusive exposure of the child to ALL stimuli: games, arts and crafts, adventures, stories, nature studies, skills, values and good clean FUN.

Lynne - Founder and Programme Creator

Preschool teacher in nature

Hi, I’m Lynne

My ‘journey’ thus far has been long and varied but has been dominated by ‘education’ in various formats for over 30 years.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Painting and English, English Honours and a teaching diploma. Over the years I have worked with children ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years.

I have worked with very young children in the Waldorf context and been tutored and mentored in the field of Waldorf pedagogy. I have found that there are many aspects to this ethos that fit very naturally with my style and the teaching approach that I have practiced throughout my career.

After all these years of working with children I believe that I understand them quite well and it is my sincere hope that the programme will engage, stimulate, challenge and educate.

Besides all of that, I strongly believe that there has to be an ELEMENT OF FUN to any learning experience and this too I have consciously ‘built’ into my intention.

Our Philosophy

I have based the nature of the content of this programme on what I have practised and experienced in the real space with children - my personal ‘philosophy’ as to what learning, education and individual growth should entail.

Much of my inspiration regarding the rhythm and tone of the programme comes from experience applying Waldorf pedagogy in a preschool scenario. The gentleness, sense of magic and wonder, the need for repetition and comforting familiarity and the overriding focus on the importance of PLAY in the development of the young child – these are elements that I have incorporated in the programme.

There is nothing ‘new’ about my attitude towards learning or my inescapable love for children (of all ages) and I have attempted to infuse my inherent passion on both fronts into the structure and content of the programmes offered by the Rainbow & Rockinghorse.

Testimonial

"Lynne is a highly creative person who makes things happen. Her creative spirit is equaled by an amazing talent in art, design and language capacity. It is these attributes that Lynne is able to impart to students of all ages through a unique understanding of learning styles, cognitive stages and teaching techniques. Lynne without doubt makes a difference to children and adults alike.

This Early Childhood programme she has developed is particularly thorough, considering all aspects of cognitive, physical, emotional and spiritual development unfolding at the appropriate learning stages. The cherry on the top is that she has developed, tested and used her programme practically and… most of all the children of all ages just love Lynne!

As Educationist, School Principal and Parent I will, without reservation, trust Lynne with my own children’s life skills development.

I look forward to her future innovative work."
